Westport Avenue resident Moses Thomas, 63, was charged with failure to register as a sexual offender this week after failing to report his address change in Fairfield County.

Investigators said that police in Norwalk received a tip recently that Thomas had failed to update his address following an alleged recent move to a Westport Avenue hotel. Further investigation found that he no longer resided at his former Merritt Street home, which is still his listed address in the state’s sex offender database.

Thomas surrendered himself into police custody this week, with bond set at $25,000. According to the sex offender registry website, Thomas was convicted of second-degree sexual assault in April 1989 and sentenced to several years in prison. He was released on Oct. 15, 1993.
